I was lucky enough to get a place on a geocaching trip to Mana Island. There were 60 of us - two boatloads. The trip takes about 17 minutes depending on wind and tides. We were very lucky to have a fine, sunny day, although it was quite breezy on the tops on the western, coastal side. We all walked around the island, mostly in small groups, finding geocaches, taking photos and catching up with geocaching friends. The walk took about three hours with many stops. One of our group tasks was to have a beach clean up, but there was almost no rubbish (a good thing!).

| I was lucky enough to see six takahe on the day, also a lot of kakariki as well as many tui and bellbirds close up. |
