Some South Island day tramps - Hideaway Hut

 1-6 March - we stayed at a log cabin beside Lake Ohau with five friends from our Thursday tramping group.  Our first day walk was to historic Hideaway hut, built in 1867. 

Our first challenge was crossing the Ahuriri River.  Merv is helping me.

I clambered up above the hut to get a geocache

Then Merv decided to have a look at the view too

On the way back Geraldine tried some trout fishing - but no success today
