Thursday tramp - Sheridan Creek - an off-track adventure

19 March - This was a circuit in the Tararuas involving some off track "exploration".  I was the only one in our group of 12 that had done it before, and armed with my GPS we successfully completed the route.  We started
by walking up Sheridan Creek.

Then we clambered up to follow an old bush tramway from the logging days

We took a morning tea stop at an old boiler from the bush tramway..  DOC have covered it with a roof and have had volunteers working to preserve it.

The next stage of our expedition was off track, a steep climb up through very tangled supplejack.  It was slow going using secateurs to cut our way through.

We finally reached the Field hut track and it was an easy walk back down to the parked vehicles.
