Day 6: Open sea again - Dusky Sound to Doubtful Sound

Thursday 18 August:  Our day started again with kayaking in Supper cove, Doubtful Sound.  It was cooler this morning, but calm.  We kayaked for about an hour exploring the top end of the Sound.

We then cruised the Bowen Passage in Dusky Sound, past Cooper Island which has a predator free programme sponsored by Real Journeys.

Even the crew were taking photos
The Acheron Passage, getting closer to the open sea

This time our open sea trip was pleasant and took about three hours.  The sails were raised.

Owen photographed this giant petrel out to sea.
Approaching Doubtful Sound.  You can see why Captain Cook was reluctant to enter this one.
He didn't, but past all these islands at the entrance it opens up into a huge branching sound (a fiord really).

Today's route.  We anchored for the night at Precipice Cove in Bradshaw Sound.
