Kaikoura before the earthquake

23 August 2016: We always like to visit Kaikoura and this time we planned an overnight stop to take some early morning photos.  A beautiful place, how it must have changed since the earthquake about three months later on 14 November 2016.  We got up to watch and photograph a beautiful sunrise.  I took the first 5 photos on my phone.  Owen set up his camera and tripod to take the last one shown in this series.
