A Friday tramp for a change

20 January 2017:  I can't remember why our Thursday tramp went out on a Friday for a change, maybe it was the weather, or the leader's call.  Some enthusiasts had cut a new track from the Pahiatua side of the Tararua Range to join up with the Sledge track on the Palmerston North side.  This made a relatively low crossing of the Tararuas possible, a walk of only about 9km taking 5 1/2 hours.

Our van driver dropped us off at the start (Naenae Road) and drove around to meet us at the Sledge Track car park

It was quite muddy and slippery
