Our Northland holiday - Kai iwi lakes to Ahipara

2 - 4 February 2017: We camped at Kai Iwi lakes for two nights.  This gave time for me to bike right around Lake Taharoa (9km) and collect some geocaches.  Owen concentrated on his photography.

Unfortunately it was a wet day driving through the Waipoua kauri forest so we did not stop except for a coffee.  It cleared in the afternoon as we reached Rawene.  Here we were pleased to meet up with friends from Palmerston North who were taking part in a vintage car rally.

Allan and Suzanne had driven this vintage car all the way from Palmerston North!
Driving on to the Rawene ferry at Kohukohu.  We had already crossed on the ferry the other way.
Next stop Ahipara Beach, at the southern end of Ninety Mile Beach.  The Kiwi campsite here was excellent, and another chance for me to have a bike ride too.
