A tramp to Gable End Ridge - much better weather!

12 November - Gable End Ridge - our Thursday tramping group headed in behind Levin and up the Ohau River Valley.  After about an hour's walk we headed up a steep ridge to "Gable End" at 903m where we were rewarded with sunshine and a good view of Levin, Lake Horowhenua and the coast.  It was a strenuous tramp of 7 hours with a steady climb and then returning the way we had come.
A photo at the car park, just because we weren't wearing raincoats this time!
Morning tea stop at a clearing

A view of Waiopehu hut, which I have visited once before on a Thursday day tramp
The next photos are taken in the sunshine at our highest point, Gable End 903m.
