8 June 2016 - I joined the Wednesday group for a change. They were going to explore a new track that some locals have cut from No. 2 Line, Pohangina Valley up to a trig at a named spot height, Ross Peak (1,054m). We were lucky to have a perfect day, calm, fine and sunny with great views of Ruapehu from the car park.
At the start, 16 in today's group
A very steep climb up through farmland
Looking in to the bush and ridge top ahead
The trig is sighted
There was a geocache here!
Lunch, and views of the Hawkes Bay below
