After long flights from Palmerston North - Auckland - Los Angeles to Albuquerque we were very glad to sleep in a proper bed in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The view out of our hotel window reminded us that we were in a hot and dry part of the USA, and the flags of USA, New Mexico and Holiday Inn reminded us just where we were.

9 June - we collected our RV and in the afternoon set off northwards out of town to start our adventures

| For our first night we parked at a small state campsite that just provided drinking water and long-drop toilets. It was very peaceful. |
