Alps2Ocean - Day 2 - Mt Cook/Aoraki to Twizel

24 February - Our day started with a short 6km bike ride to the helicopter airport.  After a briefing our bikes were loaded into a container and we enjoyed a short scenic helicopter ride across the Tasman River.  Several trips were needed to get the whole group and bikes to the other side.

Our group ready to start the ride.  The sign says 69km to Twizel and there were tricky river gravels at first.

Then on to Braemar road - the gravel was not easy to ride either.

The best scenery of the day was riding beside Lake Pukaki.  We reached Twizel at 3.30pm after a total riding distance of 76km.  I was glad of the training I had put in to complete this long day.
