Tuesday 8 December - Verena drove my friend Judy and me to Christchurch airport where we met Kylie for the first time. Verena then kindly drove us to the start of our tramp at Mesopotamia Station. It was a long but scenic drive. Along the way we met up with Kevin so we were now a group of four trampers.
We set off walking at 1.30pm from the south side of the Rangitata River and reached Crooked Spur hut at 6.30pm (altitude 976m). This was a walk of 11.6 kms.
